Basex Keynoter

If you’re thinking of joining me at Building Portals And Collaborative Business Environments, the Basex Conference I’ll be co-chairing with Basex CEO Jonathan Spira at the Penn Club in New York City on June 8, 2004 or the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles on July 13, 2004, here are a few program additions you might like to note.

We’re excited that Robert Kahn, the co-inventor of TCP/IP and President of the Corporation for National Research Initiatives will be our keynoter both days, speaking on the Digital Object Infrastructure:  A Framework for Interoperability of Heterogeneous Information Systems.  We’ve also added KM and CIO execs from HP, Marsh & McLennan, JP Morgan, Chase, and the US Navy.

Social Networking At Supernova

Kevin Werbach’s SuperNova Conference is always a thought-provoking event, attended by many industry insiders, who use it as an opportunity to get together and discuss the future of an increasingly decentralized world.  Anything on-line might be the subject of conversation, particularly if it’s new, important, or needs policy changes to be properly implemented.

This year’s conference in San Jose (Fairmount Hotel, June 24-25) features a new notion, an on-line EventSpace where conference participants can meet before and during the conference via weblogging, metablogging, and moblogging (Six Apart), an event Wiki (SocialText), video IM, a blogcast of speaker interviews by David Weinberger, and webcasts of some conference keynotes.

I’ll be there, moderating a session on Connected Work.  Last year, in Washington, being at SuperNova was like being at two events – the one in front of you and the one on-line; this year I suspect the problem will be choosing between the on-line events!  If you want to join me, there’s more information at http://www.supernova2004.com/.
