Sam Albert:  In Memoriam

A good friend of mine and the industry passed away last Sunday.  Sam Albert was employed for 30 years at IBM, helping to create the notions of partnering and the services industry.

Every analyst who covered IBM got to know Sam Albert well.  He was our best source of information and help.  Always available; always helpful; always kind and generous – even when we were frantic and rude and rushed.

When he “retired” he became our colleague – consulting, explaining IBM to the world, and telling New York City about computers via his radio show.

He was one of the first people I met when I came into this industry and it’s hard to imagine it without him.  We will all miss him and his boundless enthusiasm for the industry he loved.
